Planning using a calendar app vs. planning using a paper calendar are two extremes on a spectrum, with different strengths and weaknesses.

Calendar apps are usually very formal and unmalleable environments, but they have the advantage of being abile to have multiple views on the same data. On the other hand, a paper calendar is remarkably flexible in comparison, but it lacks any form of automation.
