We’re bringing the Ink & Switch team to Local-First
The first two days of Local-First Conf are the single track, curated high quality talks with a couple of panels mixed in that you’ve seen from previous years.
The third day is Lab Day, dedicated to being interactive, social, and experimental. We’ll have a couple of talks from the Ink & Switch team to start the day, right after lunch, and a few words to close things off.
The rest of the day will have some planned lightning talks & discussion groups, demos, and even a few special hands on experiences. There will be a room dedicated for mini code workshops, and an open hacking area where people can gather to demo to each other, hack on prototypes, and other in-person learning and sharing together.
There will be open slots available and dedicated tables to setup at with your laptop, hardware, or really any other cool demo / come over to talk and share what you’re doing with passers by.
Unconference? Yes, but also maybe un-festival? There will be lots of people to meet and things to see, there will be lightning talks, and you can grab an open slot of a room and gather people to run a shared discussion on a topic.
We’ve got main stage presentations in the morning and after lunch, and otherwise the space is open for you to meet and explore.
Here’s the overview of the whole day.

Notebooks
Making your own paper notebook has been an Ink & Switch team summit tradition for many years. When we meet together, we take the time to have a group of 10 - 25 people go through the process, and our deigner Todd makes sure to bring custom stamps or other printed matter that is unique to the place and time that we’re meeting at.
We’re going to experiment by scaling this up a bit, for the over 350 attendees of Local-First Conf. Either stop by the Notebook Station during lab day and join one of the group sessions in getting some guidance on how to put your notebook together, or pick up a kit and take it with you to complete at home.
Want to contribute to notebook creation? Todd has written up some guidelines on sizing and design of notebook inserts. Including easy mode: bring stickers, stamps or other small decorations to share.

Some of the other things not-just-software that our team and other Lab Day participants will be demo’ing:
You can setup at the red booths in the main hall, in the beer garden, or wherever you’d like to perch yourself and show a demo, invite someone to learn your favourite framework, have a group discussion, or just get a chance to meet people.
